What is COB?
In electronic products, COB refers to Chip on Board. COB refers to a packaging technology, which is a packaging method that directly mounts LED chips on a circuit board.
This leads to a basic approach to LED construction, leaving only the LED chip, yellow phosphor overlay and connection pads. This type of LED is sometimes called a flip chip.
Unlike ordinary SMD LEDs, which have a lamp bead holder to package the LED chip and cover the phosphor coating, COB LED simplifies the design by removing unnecessary components.
What is COB LED Strip?
COB, is a technology that directly mounts LED chips onto a flexible PCB board, resulting in a COB LED light strip consisting of a row of chips packaged on a flexible board.
These chips are flip-chip, then the encapsulation glue containing phosphor is directly coated on the surface of the chip. The glue interacts with the light emitted from the surface of the chip, refracts and reflects it, and uniformly produces light of various colors.
Because of this unique packaging method, COB LED strips are also called seamless spotless LED strips. Therefore, the light emitted by the COB LED strip is very uniform without any dark areas.
